Freeman has dedicated her platform and work to going against the current stigma surrounding the video game world. Instead of focusing on violence, warfare, and monetary reward systems, she founded a new genre of video games. As the "punk poet of gaming" (The Guardian), Freeman creates games led by relationships that explore themes of sexuality, vulnerability, and emotions.

Beyond this, Freeman has and continues to work hard to diversify the STEAM field, specifically in an attempt to promote the participation and employment of women.
